CELEBRATing STUDENT SUCCESS:
I showcase my student's work every chance I get. I use my background in design and my interest in learning environments and sense of place to create safe, positive, enjoyable work environments for all students.
I am constantly covering the walls of any school I am at with student artworks. With my interest in feng shui, design and aesthetics, I like to create inspiring learning spaces around the school, and the community. At SGS in Singapore, I worked with the Ang Mo Kio Public Library to organize displays of my student's work. We were also delighted to be selected as one of 10 schools to participate in the VIP program, working with a local batik artist and displaying our work during Singapore's Youth Art Festival. At ISE in Thailand, I worked with the Head of the School's Board to redesign the first floor common space in a project I refer to as the ISE Beautification Project. At SIS in Shekou, Shenzhen, China, I worked with local business owners to create spaces within the community to display our student's works. (To name just a few projects. Stay tuned.. I am always working on something)

COLLABORATING:
I like to collaborate with other teachers and highlight curriculum connections.
During every school year, I work with a variety of teachers - I support their curriculum from simple ways such as discussing the same concepts in my classroom to full on development of units to support their curriculum. I am often found in classes like TOK presenting mini art-based workshops. I like to engage the student population by creating opportunities for student voice; creating photograph contests and poster campaigns to highlight learner profiles, to bridge art with digital coding, to consider sustainable options within the school. At SIS, I worked with other Arts teachers and Arts students to create a visual ARTS campaign for the first floor of campus, to both celebrate the ARTS and to promote it as a valid choice for the senior secondary years (and for future careers)

I'm always trying new ideas and think outside the box to challenge my students and keep them engaged in the art process.

LEADING:
I am a born Leader (and have relevant Leadership Experience).
I studied my M.Ed (Leadership and Organization) with USF and WSU with the ISLP programme with EARCOS and am continuing on my learning journey as a Ph.D. Candidate at Concordia University. Ever since my early days as Head of Waterfront in Orillia, Ontario, I see leadership as a conversation, a tool to promote collaboration, positive growth and ultimately, elevation for all. Leadership to me is not about a position, but a way of understanding and supporting others.

DESIGNING:
I am so happy to create a variety of marketing materials to promote both my Visual Art program and my school. Art displays are my speciality.
ALWAYS GETTING INVOLVED:
I love to get involved in school activities. I coach. I supervise clubs. I create art contests. I'll go to prom. And have been known to sing and play guitar or front a rock band (on stage... for special occasions)
CHAPERONE, ORGANIZER, TOUR GUIDE:
I can design, plan, promote and chaperone students on local and international trips.
CREATING, FOSTERING, CELEBRATING COMMUNITY:
Arts Festivals are an amazing way to develop creative confidence, create excitement within the arts and network with schools.
At ISE, I was so fortunate to be able to develop and organize our MRISA Art Festivals, both with our student leaders and my phenomenal colleagues. Every school needs an Art Festival. It *may* be one of missions to make this happen.

Reaching out to the community, making connections with parents, other teachers and other schools in the area allow for even more opportunities to showcase my students work - and generate more interest in our school and the Arts.
CREATING (I'M JUST REALLY AN ARTIST AT HEART):I love working alongside my students as we think up fantastical creative projects. There is always an unfinished painting or sculptural work of mine in my classroom.. usually two ... or three. I also like to create examples particularly of sketch books (some pages highlighted below) to give students some ideas of what to include in theirs. My students have amazing sketchbooks. I like to think it has something to do with the sketchbooks I am constantly sharing with them....
